Steven Spurgeon has received a scholarship to attend Arizona State University’s 2010 Winter School on High Resolution Microscopy. The aim of the school is to introduce the theory and practice of high resolution electron microscopy to scientists currently using transmission electron microscopes for materials science studies.

Steven Spurgeon receives NIST neutron scattering grant

Steven Spurgeon has received a grant from the University of Maryland to conduct neutron scattering measurements at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He will be exploring the magnetic properties of iron-magnesium oxide thin films.

Chris Winkler passes Ph.D. candidacy exam

Chris Winkler recently presented a talk on “GST Phase Change Chalcogenide Materials” in fulfillment of his oral candidacy exam. The department now officially recognizes him as a Ph.D. candidate.
