Post Doctoral Researcher Position Available

The Dynamic Characterization Group at Drexel University, in conjunction with Sandia National Laboratories, is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to work on a research project that will focus on in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) experiments under various combinations of extreme environments utilizing facilities at both Drexel University and the in situ ion irradiation TEM (I3TEM) facility at Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM). The position includes a designated visiting scholar position at Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM).

The successful candidate must have a PhD in materials science or a closely related field. Ideal candidates will have experience with in situ TEM of metallic systems, TEM sample fabrication including focused-ion beam (FIB) lift-out, and the mechanical properties of metals and alloys. The candidate should be a self-starter, able to work independently, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, and able to participate creatively in refining program directions. Presentations at national/international meetings and publication of scientific results in high profile peer-reviewed journals are expected.
